Ask a humanNo. Your physical SIM stays in the tray, untouched. The eSIM lives on a separate chip soldered to your motherboard. They both run at the same time on a dual-SIM setup — your home line keeps doing calls and SMS for your bank, MobileXY runs in the background for data. You decide which line handles what inside Settings → Cellular.
Three things to try, in order. (1) Settings → Cellular → MobileXY eSIM → Data Roaming ON. This is the #1 cause — without roaming flag, the eSIM won't hand off to the local carrier. (2) Reboot the phone. (3) Open Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Network and check the APN matches the one in your activation email. If still dead after that, hit support — we can re-issue the QR in ~5 minutes.
For the eSIM data plans — no, those are data-only, no phone number. For our Virtual Numbers product — yes, US, UK, NL, DE and 20+ other countries work for WhatsApp registration as of May 2026. Telegram works on a broader list. Each number page on the Virtual Numbers section lists which services it supports — we test weekly because services occasionally block ranges.

The plan you bought has a validity window (7/14/30 days typically) — once it expires, the eSIM profile stays installed but stops working until you top up. Yes, on phones that support multiple eSIM profiles (most iPhones since the 13, Samsung S22 onwards, recent Pixels). Buy two plans, scan two QRs, both profiles live in the phone. You decide which is the data line at any moment in Settings → Cellular. Useful for stacking a country plan with a regional bundle, or running a backup carrier in regions with patchy coverage.

If the eSIM never connected to a network — full refund, no questions, processed within 24 hours. If it connected but the speed was unworkable, we audit the carrier route logs and refund if our SLA (>5 Mbps sustained in urban areas of the target country) wasn't met.
