Worth knowing
What is set aside when I switch a country on?
A small prepaid amount for data — shown next to each country before you confirm. It is spent as you use data, topped up automatically while your balance allows, and whatever is left returns to your balance when you switch the country off.
How quickly does my usage appear?
Usually within half an hour, but mobile networks can take up to 17 hours to report. Your usage figure always carries the time it is accurate as of, so you know what you are looking at.
Does anything expire?
No. Money on your balance stays yours, and an eSIM you have not activated waits until you travel.
Is this cheaper than a data plan?
It depends on how much you use. Pay-as-you-go wins on short or light trips where a fixed bundle would go to waste; a day pass or package is better if you use a full gigabyte every single day.
