At MobileXY we want to make sure you get enough data with your plan to suit your lifestyle. Whether it’s updating your status, surfing the web or listening to music, your data is important.
Check how much data you’re using now
On your iPhone, go to Settings – Mobile Data. If you’re using an iPad, you might see Settings – Cellular Data instead. Scroll down to find which apps are using cellular data. If you don’t want an app to use cellular data, you can turn it off for that app. When cellular data is off, apps will only use Wi-Fi for data.
To see the cellular data usage for individual System Services, go to Settings – Mobile Data. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap System Services. Cellular data can’t be turned on or off for individual System Services.
Light use
- Sometimes I check messengers and maps – 500MB
- I use my phone for email, messaging, and a bit of social media – 1-2GB
Medium use
- Fully in social media, and maybe a few videos – 2-5GB
- I use my phone for work as well, including email and downloading documents and files – 5GB
Heavy use
- I am streaming lots of music or podcasts every day, and use social media, messaging, and other apps too – 5-10GB
- I am streaming video over 4G a few times a week – 10GB

- 1 minute of streaming music 500KB (30MB/hr)
- 1 email (no attachment) 20KB
- 1 email (with standard attachment) 300KB
- 1 app/game/song downloaded 4MB
Notice: You can find various data calculators on the web. Depends on the data you entered: the calculator will show the approximate costs and values for the mobile data based on which applications you plan to use and how often during the trip.
